The wedding party rented out Clarendon Inn (the cutest little cozy inn) in Downtown Wilmington, right across the street from the reception location at the Hannah Block USO Community Center.  It made taking getting ready shots and reception detail shots super easy:)

Becca & Yanic decided to have a first look before the wedding ceremony on the Riverfront in Downtown Wilmington.

Becca’s bouquet was so pretty!

Yanic & Becca were planning to get married in her parent’s yard in Burgaw, NC. Everyone had been working hard getting the place wedding-ready and it looked amazing. The only problem were the rain clouds that rolled in just before the wedding was to start. As the limos pulled in, the sprinkling slowed and guests hurried to wipe down the seats. Maybe the backup plan to marry in the church could be avoided after all. Then just as the ceremony started, so did the rain! No one was without an umbrella, so the wedding went on as planned, in the rain!

The poor bridesmaids were soaked, but it was definitely a memorable day!

Hurrying to blow-dry Becca’s dress…

Becca & Yanic did things a little differently in lots of ways, including having only bridesmaids!

The centerpieces for all the tables at the Hannah Block USO Community Center were all different floral decorated birdcages.  They were so pretty and the florals were amazing!  They also served the best shrimp and grits as martini style appetizers and were the best that anyone has ever had, hands down!

Becca broke out the clogging during Lynn Anderson’s version of the song Rocky Top.

I know this isn’t the best image composition wise, etc… but we thought it was cute nonetheless. When the bride’s sister started breaking it down, everyone seemed a bit shocked.

Anyone who wasn’t at the wedding want to take a guess at what song is playing during this next photo?

Hope you guys had a great time up in New York!

I also want to say THANK YOU to Erin O’neil for driving all the way from Greenville, SC to assist me with this wedding! She captured some great moments… I definitely recommend her to other photographers looking for a second shooter! Here she is in action…

David & Kelsey – Engaged! {Wrightsville Beach Wedding & Engagement Photographer}

I had so much fun photographing Kelsey & David’s Engagement Session last week in the Airlie area and on Wrightsville Beach. Kelsey lives in Durham and David lives in Norfolk. Of course, I live in Charlotte and their wedding will be in Winston Salem! I love it! Needless to say, I had never met them in person… only spoken to Kelsey on the phone and through email over the past couple of months. They were super cute, great to work with, and I loved capturing their playfulness with each other. I can not wait for their wedding next July!

Kelsey wanted half of the session to include some classic southern moss covered Oak trees so we went around the Airlie Gardens area and found some great spots! If only the mosquitoes weren’t so bad by the lake we found, we could have stayed longer than 5 minutes…

love this.

Kelsey’s handstand…

They spend a lot of time vacationing at Wrightsville Beach, so they wanted to include some of that area in their engagement photos as well.

David’s handstand…

I asked David to have a seat at the edge of the wrong sand dune. He refused to sit down anywhere near that dune after this…

The sky at Wrightsville Beach had an awesome cloud pattern at sunset.

So that they were even after David’s sandspur incident, he “accidentally” made Kelsey fall in the ocean;)

Afterwards, we headed over to the docks on the soundside of Wrightsville Beach for the end of sunset.

Matthew & Alexis – Married! {River Landing Wedding Photographer}

Photographing Matthew & Alexis’ wedding day was a blast!  When all the groomsmen pulled into the country church, one loud giant truck after another, each covered in mud, I knew it was going to be a fun day:)  Not to mention, my little brother was one of them!

Their reception was at the newly built River Landing Country Club in Wallace, NC. It was so gorgeous! I wish I lived closer so that I could shoot here more often;)

This was the view from the ballroom…

Gotta love the traditional smashing of cake in face:)

The sunset over the lake at River Landing Country Club was so beautiful…

Joe & Sara – Married! {Black Mountain Wedding Photography}

I helped Ben Jack shoot a wedding in Black Mountain, NC near Asheville a couple of weeks ago at White Horse. It was a dark and rainy day in Black Mountain, but it didn’t get the bride and groom down or keep the wedding guests from dancing all night!
See the way Joe looks at his bride? So sweet!

We had to get creative with indoor bride and groom portraits… the kitchen in the house everyone got ready in was perfect!

One of the groomsmen rented this house for the week. It once belonged to someone named Ms. Helen and all her belongings are still there. All the guys were drinking out of tea cups.

The band was Motown Blues and they had everyone dancing and singing along… they even got called back at the end of the night for an encore!

I know that I haven’t been blogging much lately, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy!  I’m swamped with tons of  editing and will be getting them all up here as soon as possible:)  So this post isn’t without an image, here’s a quick little grab from a wedding I shot with Ben Jack in Black Mountain yesterday.
